YOUR POSITION WITH TNC Hiring and developing talented staff is central to our conservation success. The Talent Manager provides vital expertise and innovation in recruitment and staff development, functioning as a valued partner to hiring managers, supervisors and staff. They manage confidential and sensitive information, have an awareness of California’s unique HR requirements, are highly organized and will be involved in execution of a variety of talent development programs throughout the chapter. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Talent Manager serves as central hub of recruiting activity. Collaborates across functions to build and implement effective, proactive, and efficient recruitment strategies and processes to address immediate talent needs in the chapter. Primary responsibilities include: Assists in developing targeted recruiting plans for a variety of positions (in 10 unique job categories), employing traditional sourcing strategies and resources as well as proposing new, innovative ideas. Partners with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and outreach plans, may source and evaluate candidates, and interview candidates as appropriate. Builds networks to find a diverse pool of qualified passive candidates through industry contacts, association memberships, groups and employees. Provides learning opportunities and coaching on recruiting best practices. Manages process and documentation requirements of recruitments, new hires, career progressions and annual merit reviews. May facilitate new hire orientation and other staff development events. Assist in coordination and planning process of annual talent review. Coordinates with the World Office (WO) People/HR organization in areas such as benefits and payroll to provide needed and varying support for California staff. RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE Supports recruitment initiatives in California through proactive outreach, sourcing, interviewing. Consults with hiring managers on the unique needs of the program and position. Successfully leverages social media tools used in recruiting including LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Demonstrates commitment to diversity and inclusion in the hiring process. Committed to finding unique and innovative ways to propel our employer brand. May facilitate professional development and learning events. Responsible for maintaining and handling highly sensitive, confidential employee data. Responds to inquiries from staff which may be routine to fairly complex in nature. Special projects and other assistance as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 5 years related work experience or equivalent combination. Experience coordinating and leading projects. Experience responding to HR related questions and problems from employees/management. Experience constructing and producing reports and presentations. Experience working with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in HR, business or related field. Professional HR Certification a plus. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience working with PeopleSoft. Experience recruiting a variety of disciplines. Strong command of data and analytics. Understanding of California HR concepts, processes, and services. Experience managing an HR process and/or project. Ability to partner with a wide variety of clients and stakeholders. Passionate advocate for a positive candidate and new hire experience. Creative thinker; looks for innovative solutions to challenges. Excellent communication skills: ability to present complex information in an easy to understand, non-technical format. Facilitation or teaching experience. Knowledge of social media platforms used in recruiting; LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter. Ability to work on remote teams in a matrixed organization.
