I am a lawyer who is seeking a challenging senior leadership position where my penchant for creative problem solving and focus on outcomes and impact would be welcomed. I have a decade of experience in public sector management, policy analysis, communications, and strategic partnerships, along with a passion for advancing social and economic justice. I have worked in a variety of roles in nonprofit organizations and in local and federal government, from advancing educational opportunity as a Policy Analyst in Mayor Villaraigosa’s Office of Education, to supporting President Obama’s efforts to champion and support urban economic development at the White House Office of Urban Affairs, Justice, and Opportunity, to developing legal and community engagement strategies to advance economic opportunity at Public Counsel and the ACLU of Michigan, to developing and managing a project about how to address socioeconomic immobility in Mexico as a Fulbright scholar. I have overseen the successful execution of many complex projects, including: leading a staff of 130 to publish two timely issues of a nationally circulated law and policy journal, which has received mention in The Guardian and Rolling Stone ; managing Mayor Villaraigosa’s education-related community engagement and policy advocacy, including his involvement in a convening of the mayors and superintendents of the three largest U.S. school districts and the Secretary of Education that achieved the goal of convincing the Secretary to open Race to the Top to districts (it had previously only been available to states); overseeing a consulting project for the City of Boston about how they could that involved 21 interviews and culminated in a presentation to over a dozen senior officials; and chairing the Program Committee of a national nonprofit organization with a $6.5 million operating budget, advising the Board and CEO as the organization undergoes significant program expansion.

Delivering excellence in program coordination and community engagement is the hallmark of my 10+ year career, and I am eager to transition my skills to a career within higher education administration. Review of my qualifications with showcase a proven track record of leading strategic initiatives to achieve long-term organizational goals. I enjoy working with, learning from and motivating talented team members and utilizing industry best practices to resolve complex problems and surpass all expectations. These experiences have provided me with a diverse skill set in teaching, financial management, student development, data analysis, event planning, and digital marketing. I am highly regarded as an out-of-the-box thinker committed to creating innovative programs and forming strategic community partnerships to provide academic support and meet student needs.  From my time as a High School Teacher and Media Artist to my current role as Program Manager, my focus has been on developing diverse and innovative programming for audiences without access to visual and performing arts. During my tenure as Program Manager with SFMOMA (2015 – Current), I have cultivated strong relationships with high school administrators and community members, while leveraging my vast project management experience to define goals and deliver programs that achieve measurable success.  While serving as the Program Director for the small non-profit Southern Exposure (2012 – 2015), I worked within a $100K annual budget to manage an eclectic set of art programs that served several hundred underserved students each year. I also conducted ongoing educational workshops for resident artists to train in teaching best practices, led the organization's recruitment strategy, and spearheaded a digital marketing strategy to promote programs across all social media and web channels. As a Program Coordinator at MACLA (2011 – 2012) directed the planning and administration of numerous digital arts community programs, as well as managed several high-profile stakeholders to design, build, and open a state-of-the-art digital media academy. I have also acted as the Education Coordinator for Zero 1 / Adobe Youth Voices (2010), where I held digital workshops for students and produced eye-catching graphical materials to support marketing efforts. In addition, I offered expert advice and training to teachers on how to utilize and best integrate education technology into their classrooms as the New Media Coordinator at the Palo Alto Arts Center (2008 – 2010). These experiences provide me with the insight to play a vital role on your team. My resume will provide additional details concerning my accomplishments. I welcome the opportunity for an interview to discuss the performance you can expect from me.   Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.  I look forward to hearing from you about this exciting opportunity.

Over the course of the last 10 years, I have spent a large portion of that time being considered a resource and an asset everywhere I’ve worked and am highly sought after for my ability to digest and simplify information and a genuine passion for helping others grow. During my time at Los Angeles Superior Court, I have quickly climbed the ranks from being initially hired to now becoming a subject matter expert in traffic, all the while working in criminal and limited civil litigations. I recently ended a six-month temporary assignment that resulted in my becoming a subject matter expert for LASC traffic and fixed a large portion of the County’s backlog as well as identify broken processes and opportunities. I spent my time at Apple exceeding the high standards of an evolving and ambiguous business, consistently performing in the top quartile of our market. My ability to work with ambiguity, addressing and anticipating needs and opportunities for the intended user base and consistently going above and beyond for my customers was a daily routine. Most recently, I graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University with a degree in Communications. This was all done while having a full-time job, becoming a father and buying a home. My mission was to complete school and graduate; outside circumstances and responsibilities had their place, but they were not going to get in the way of accomplishing my goals. I am an excellent communicator and can understand the weight and importance of working on a tight deadline and can effectively multitask. I am eager to learn and quick to absorb new information, and I strive to continually improve internally with the hopes I can expand externally and pass that strength onto my team or establishment. Furthermore, I constantly hold myself up to the highest of standards and that same drive and initiative is present in every action I take. Should I be selected for the position, I am not intending on playing it safe and settling in a bubble; I’m here to play the long game and push beyond my ceiling.
