Apr 2007 - Jul 2018 University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC)

The University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit composed of 33 U.S. Universities which provides international academic experiences for summer, semester or year-long programs in 28 countries for 4,400+ college aged students annually. In my most recent role for 11+ years, I developed, and executed plans for administering 12 of the 50 international programs offered. Additionally, I led a team that required everything from flexibility to an awareness of emerging trends for persons from diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as, oversaw all health and safety issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managed 70 employees including teams spread across international locations; created professional development trainings
  • Developed new college level educational programs in India, Brazil, Ireland, Sweden, and England
  • Negotiated contracts with international and U.S. partners; coordinated with service providers for outsourcing
  • Assisted Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval's Office of Economic Development in coordinating trade mission to the Basque Country

For the first 6 months, I was a Program Assistant before USAC created the position of Student Services Coordinator to take advantage of my unique skill set and background. In this role, I assisted the current Director of the Student Services in establishing protocols and procedures at program sites. My responsibilities included developing an escalation approach to issues at program sites, advising students on all aspects of study abroad programs, assisting students with visa applications, etc. I created documentation and guides that enabled the processes to be easily repeated and administered in a consistent basis.
