My name is Vaughn Farris, and I am seeking opportunities in the Los Angeles and Orange Counties. I have spent more than eleven years working in the non-profit sector, focusing on issues across sectors and industries. I am confident that my previous experience will serve me well in this role and be an asset to the organization. For your consideration, I included my letter of intent and resume.
Currently, I am an independent consultant working with clients in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors, leading strategic planning, membership campaigns, fundraising, virtual events, marketing, and business development. Clients include: Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), Rely-On Technologies, and J-Max Construction. With these institutions, I worked with executive leadership and cross-departmental teams to develop tactics, benchmarks for evaluation, and tracking methods. My success with them translated to a growth in sales, achieved benchmarks, and successful program growth for each client over the last year.
Prior to this, I provided strategy counsel at CCS Fundraising, serving as a fundraising and development consultant for non-profit institutions. As an Executive Director, I oversaw daily operations, staff, and volunteers; managed business development for clientele; created processes and procedures; and served as the project manager and subject matter expert for fundraising and soliciting major gifts.
Before joining CCS, I served as the Senior Manager of Programs for the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, where I led program operations and marketing for online and in-person events for 14,000 members. I oversaw the governance, education, and events for a cohort of 300 CEOs; managed one of the nation’s most extensive education programs for diverse business owners in collaboration with Tuck School of Business; and directed the operations for national scholarships and awards.
I previously worked at the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce where I served as Manager of Corporate Relations where I oversaw building relationships with corporations, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. In this role, I created the first LGBTX business utilization benchmarking study utilized by Fortune 500 companies. Additional responsibilities entailed overseeing promotion of programs and events, securing corporate sponsors, negotiating annual partner agreements, and facilitating executive engagement opportunities.
My work's success stems from identifying opportunities, conceptualizing a vision, communicating goals, and mobilizing cross-departmental teams to actualize outcomes.
