Working alongside a team of supervisors in our New York or Los Angeles, the Crisis Services Digital Supervisor is primarily responsible for supervision of TrevorText and TrevorChat, our life-saving digital crisis services for LGBTQ youth. You are responsible for providing real-time support to our amazing counselors and ensuring that they provide the best possible life-affirming support to our text and chat users. Who you are: Passionate. You care about LGBTQ youth. You care about saving lives. You want to come to work and feel inspired every day. You want to change the world Action-oriented. You know how to get things done. You can move quickly and efficiently. You love to set challenging goals and then develop plans to deliver and achieve them Not easily shaken. You’re someone who can maintain compassion for our LGBTQ youth, but aren’t easily rattled by high-stress situations and can thrive in a crisis care setting Experienced professional. You have a demonstrated knowledge and cultural competency of the youth we serve through coursework or relevant professional experience. You have experience working in the mental or public health field and can thrive in a crisis care setting. (Letters after your name are a plus) Organized and efficient. You know how to manage multiple projects. You can communicate clearly and concisely. The moment you see a problem, you quickly come up with solutions and then implement them Flexible. Our text and chat programs are soon going 24/7, so we need life-savers who are willing and able to work late nights or very early mornings. Coffee/tea lovers are welcome! Grounded. You are someone who understands that suicide prevention work is difficult and sometimes taxing. You know how to employ positive self-care and coping skills to keep you strong and engaged Team player. You love collaborating. You dig learning from your peers. You’re great at getting and giving respectful and productive feedback to volunteers and co-workers Fun . The work we do is very serious, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have fun. We know how to have a good time and you should too What you’ll do: Directly supervise counselors on our digital crisis services as they respond to text and chats from and provide crisis intervention counseling to LGBTQ young people nationwide Provide constructive and supportive feedback to volunteer counselors as they support LGBTQ youth in crisis Assist with special projects, administrative tasks and mandated reporting as needed Conduct occasional trainings for our counselors so they can become even more inspiring and effective Benefits: Generous vacation and holidays (like a full day off to celebrate Harvey Milk Day!) including summer Fridays Comprehensive health insurance (we pay 100% of your premiums for medical, dental, vision, and life) Fun office environment and passionate team.
