The Grant Writer is responsible for writing and submitting private and public grants, including letters of intent and reports for Project Angel Food. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional interested in elevating the profile, reach and sustainability of the Project Angel Food brand. The Grant Writer reports to the Director of Institutional Giving and Strategic Partnerships. Responsibilities Research, identify and qualify funding opportunities from foundations, corporations and government sources. Develop and submit interim and final grant reports and other written materials as required by the funder. Write, edit and proofread grant proposals, according to format required, and submit proposal to funding agency or foundation based on deadline. Discuss program requirements and sources with Director and program team to work out details of proposals. Oversee and track donor hard files and electronic tracking system, including the grants calendar. Write and manage acknowledgements for corporate and foundation donors. Develop a deep understanding of program content, collecting and synthesizing information about Project Angel Food and the industry as needed to make the strongest case for support. Help develop collateral materials for foundation and government grants and contracts. Correspond with prospective funders, when necessary, for more information on deadlines, priorities and requirements. Assist with grant writing projects for the Capital Campaign. Participate in staff, fundraising, and/or other agency meetings as requested. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required with at least 5 years of professional and/or equivalent experience. Superb writing, editing and communication skills, eye for detail and follow-through. Excellent computer and presentation skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe) including knowledge of donor database. Highly organized, self-motivated and creative. Ability to analyze and present data in a compelling manner. Experience in preparing budgets and financial reports. Ability to handle multiple tasks under varying time constraints. Customer service orientation in dealing with donors; displaying professionalism and high level of business acumen at times. Experience working/volunteering in a hunger relief/food policy organization a plus. Willingness and desire to work with a diverse team of staff and volunteers. Ability to work evenings/weekends and attend events as needed. Commitment to continuous process improvement. Commitment to the mission and values of Project Angel Food.
