Ruby Central, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that has existed for almost two decades with the sole purpose of supporting and educating the thriving community of Ruby computer programmers and those enthused about the Ruby programming language. We primarily do so through the planning and execution of two annual conferences, RubyConf and RailsConf. We are seeking a Sponsorship Relations Manager to cultivate, manage, and grow relationships with organizations in our space who are interested in supporting our specific conferences. This work includes engaging these organizations via the successful execution and fulfillment of conference sponsorships. The position reports to the Executive Administrator, and works closely with the Event Producer fas well as key members of the Board of Directors. This position is almost completely remote, with the only exception being travel approximately four to six times a year for conferences and site visits. Responsibilities Execute the day-to-day management of sponsorship inquiries and fulfillment, including: Working closely with Sponsors to identify their goals Crafting sponsorship packages to best help them achieve those goals Activating sponsorship components to Sponsors’ satisfaction Tracking progress of sponsorship fulfillment and payment Design the layout of sponsored spaces within conference floorplans to both satisfy sponsor desires and coordinate with other conference organizer requirements. Act as primary onsite contact for Sponsors at our conferences. Work with other Ruby Central staff, consultants, and board to collectively execute conference events that serve, respond to, and celebrate the Ruby community. Must Have At least two years of experience in a business and/or fundraising development, outreach, or sales-related field. Experience working with a remote team. At least one year of previous large event experience (conference, convention, expo, tradeshow) or experience fully overseeing a long-term project. Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on responsiveness, context-switching between internal and external teams, and documentation. Strong sales skills, with particular emphases on relationship-building and innovating to help partners/clients achieve shared goals. Organizational acuity, with ability to manage and cross-reference multiple streams of information to be able to answer queries in a responsive fashion. Proactive and optimistic attitude. Nice to Have 1-2 years working with a remote work team. Experience working with a remote nonprofit board. Previous oversight of a large event. Additional Details Position is fully remote, with the exception being travel as listed below. Yearly travel includes: two approximately weeklong trips for organizational conferences, two to four site visit trips of 2-3 days each to evaluate future conference locations.
