Job Description

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of IT functions at Direct Relief. This includes managing all IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions to accomplish the mission of the organization. 

 

  

Essential Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

The Director of Information Technology will perform functions including, but not limited to the following: 

  • Manage the implementation, maintenance and development of all business applications, including SAP ECC, SAP CRM, eCommerce, SAP BI, QLIK, Esri ArcGIS, Raiser’s Edge. SAP is the core of Direct Relief’s integrated platform for humanitarian aid so extensive SAP expertise is required. 
  • Responsible for technology operations and equipment including disaster recovery, network security, servers, AV, phones and other IT infrastructure, both on-prem and in the cloud.
  • Collaborate with senior management to identify major IT initiatives and outline the roadmap for implementation. 
  • Responsible for developing and managing project plans for key initiatives and reporting on their progress to senior management.
  • Analyze complex business needs presented by the user community, research alternatives and recommend cost-effective technical solutions.
  • Direct and prioritize the day to day work load of the IT Team, including helpdesk tickets. 
  • Enforce best practice IT/development standards and procedures. Ensure that systems and solutions are documented and tested.
  • Assist in building relationships with IT donors/vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts and long-term partnerships.
  • Develop and manage technology budgets, including identification of resource requirements.
  • Coach, motivate and evaluate IT staff; address personnel issues and conflicts.

Qualification, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or another related field. MBA preferred. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible positions 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience implementing and managing an SAP ERP environment. Hands-on functional knowledge of the following modules is preferred: SD, MM, WM, FI, CRM.
  • Demonstrated experience and proven track record in delivering process improvement utilizing technology.
  • Strong Project Management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of software development and systems integration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in partnership with senior leadership, department leaders, and others in addressing and/or resolving specific business issues.
  • Results-oriented; able to take concepts and ideas through to implementation and action. 
  • Ability to manage and motivate staff through effective leadership, mentoring, communications, coaching, development, facilitation, evaluation, and rewards.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; diplomatic and collaborative work style.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of comfort working in an ambiguous, flexible, cooperative environment. 
  • Team effectiveness, organizational savvy and the ability to use interpersonal and constructive communications and political skills in cooperative, collaborative and diplomatic ways to work with staff at all levels of the organization and external constituents and stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Clear background check and toxicology screening.
