Position Description

Engagement will be centered on three following areas of focus with the goal of ending the cycle of poverty for these communities. Through capacity building, the VISTAs will work to increase organizational mission, outreach strategy development, and volunteer/staff engagement through multitude of development opportunities. The LA Y intends to develop a clear pathway of fully supported YMCA engagement for youth that begins at birth and extends through early adulthood. Through the New American Welcome Center (NAWC) model, the LA Y intends to expand a needed community resource center for newcomer/immigrant populations.


  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Programs

  3. Conduct research and analysis on communities beyond what was previously targeted in Informational Interviews
    1. Analysis of community demographics
    2. Analysis of member and program demographics
    3. Conduct community interviews as necessary
    4. Review existing data and analyze to identify opportunities to better serve communities through the NAWC model
  4. Make program scalability recommendations based on reporting
    1. Collect data and report on outcomes of NAWC Programming
    2. Identify key data collection points
    3. Develop system for collection
    4. Make program scalability recommendations based on reporting
  5. Immigrant Integration Work
    1. New American Welcome Center expansion
    2. Welcoming Week (September 2018/2019)
    3. Outreach Needs/Opportunities
    4. Education & Outreach Framework
    5. New Americans Campaign
  6. Research prospects for the development of new partnerships
  7. Create communications and messaging tools to present to external partners
  8. Formulate and execute partnership agreements
  9. Coordinate promotion of community engagement activities with key stakeholders
