Reporting to the Director, Leadership and Annual Giving, the Assistant Director, Annual Giving, will be a key member of the team.
The Assistant Director will create, implement and produce Anderson's annual appeals, stewardship communications and mass solicitations. This individual will direct the implementation of the telemarketing, direct mail and email solicitation programs and work with development staff as needed to ensure the accuracy of the appeals and their recipients. The Assistant Director will serve as project manager, editor and/or principal writer for a wide variety of print and electronic projects, including direct mail solicitations, annual giving funding proposals for individual donors, brochures, campaign-related promotional materials, and Anderson Fund web pages. This individual will produce highly customized data pulls and reports from donor database and perform comprehensive data analysis to improve solicitation. The Assistant Director will represent the Annual Fund at select alumni and student events.

2. Demonstrated English skills to compose and proofread correspondence for appropriate grammar, spelling and content. Skills in writing creative and correct solicitations, acknowledgements, reports and other fundraising-related pieces.

4. Integrity and discretion in dealing with donors, alumni, students, parents, volunteers, administrators and colleagues.
5. General knowledge of basic gift terminology and of the application of writing skills to a fundraising program.
6. Knowledge of fundraising principles and techniques sufficient to complete a variety of projects and assignments successfully and with minimal supervision.
7. Excellent keyboard skills to prepare correspondence and reports with speed and accuracy.
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills to gather and impart information.
9. Strong interpersonal skills to interact courteously and effectively with co-workers, alumni, volunteers, faculty, staff, donors, and key University officials; to maintain composure under pressure to meet deadlines; and to work as part of a large team toward shared goals.
10. Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively under conditions of heavy work load, frequent interruptions, distractions and deadlines.
11. Computer proficiency in order to operate personal computer and be able to use a variety of computer software in a Windows environment, such as Word, Excel, Access, etc., to maintain and create complex databases, tables, reports, etc. Ability to analyze and segment data.
12. Ability to work some overtime, evenings and weekends for fundraising special events.
13. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
14. Demonstrated working knowledge of University's financial/accounting transactions, including reconciling ledgers, reviewing invoices for appropriateness, identifying and resolving discrepancies, is preferred.
