Job Description


Job Summary

Responsible for the efficient operation of a retail store. Manages and leads store staff to achieve established goals for sales, production, customer service, payroll, safety and expense control. Closely collaborates with Store Manager to achieve store standards and goals.



  • The Store Manager in Training supervises 9-35 staff when acting as Manager-on-duty.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include assisting in interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, scheduling and directing work; providing input on performance appraisals; recognizing and developing employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ensures excellent customer and staff relations
  • Under guidance of Store Manager, achieves financial objectives by monitoring weekly budget, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
  • Manages and ensures donated goods are processed timely and meeting quantity and quality goals.
  • Provides a safe environment for employees and customers through training, guidance, and maintaining established safety standards.
  • Follows up on all assigned projects
  • Reviews store merchandising and production needs every day to support daily goals and upcoming promotions
  • Ensures enforcement of store asset control and security policies and procedures
  • Monitors and maintains sales floor, production area, structural, electrical, store equipment, landscaping, housekeeping, loss prevention and safety in GRS standards
  • Gives corrective feedback under direction of Store Manager
  • Provides proper training in auditing procedures, customer relations, regulatory compliance and reporting
  • Attends meetings and training as required



  • Able to move minimum 25 lbs. at times
  • Able to work weekends, evenings and holidays
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. College degree helpful.
  • Must be PC proficient.
  • Must be proficient in the English language, writing and speaking. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.



  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a customer focused management role
  • Able to handle confidential information
  • Able to multitask projects of varying scope and complexity with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrate strong communication, training, developing and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated success with process accountability and multi-tasking
