Job Description

Summary: The Poverty Encounter is an interactive, educational, and immersive experience designed to open eyes to the suffering faced by billions of children around the world every day.   Real stories will bring guests face-to-face with issues such as hunger, social injustice, displaced people and the plight of the orphan.  The experience will inspire a biblical response to poverty, and ignite one’s passion to make a difference.  The facilitator will assist in launch plans prior to the opening date (September 2018) and be the main source of information for the visiting public.  This is a part-time position; some evenings and weekends may be required.   Responsibilities:
  • Tour guests of all ages through the Poverty Encounter to ensure a quality experience is achieved
  • Engage in age-appropriate discussion and dialogue for diverse groups of visitors
  • Clearly communicate the mission and vision of Children’s Hunger Fund
  • Conduct ongoing research and stay up-to-date on events as they relate to themes within the encounter
  • Engage in ongoing training to learn best practices for facilitation
  • Contribute to growth of the program by working collaboratively on new curriculum and other initiatives
  • Identify ways to improve the guest experience, deepen the impact and grow the program
  • Support plans designed to connect guests of the Poverty Encounter to the overall mission of CHF
  • Work with other CHF departments to strengthen communication, relationships and ministry development
  • Actively participate in required meetings and events (e.g. staff meeting, department meeting, Toy Wrap).
Qualifications:
  • Confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; active member of a local evangelical Christian church; demonstrates ongoing growth in Christian maturity
  • Comfortable leading discussions about poverty from a biblical perspective
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Liberal Studies, Child Development, Psychology or a related field preferred
  • Experience leading groups in a church, school, or homeschool setting; other informal learning environments such as camps, tutoring centers, or youth organizations (etc.) are also welcomed
  • MUST have an ability to retain information and deliver it in a clear and concise manner
  • A team player, with a collaborative mindset and work ethic
  • Comfortable using Windows/MS Office/Internet
