Job Description

Summary: The Poverty Encounter is an interactive, educational, and immersive experience designed to open eyes to the suffering faced by millions of children around the world every day.   Real stories will bring guests face-to-face with issues such as hunger, social injustice, displaced people and the plight of the orphan.  The experience will inspire a biblical response poverty, and ignite one’s passion to make a difference.  The Program Coordinator will assist in launch plans prior to the opening date (September 2018) and support the day-to-day operations of the center.  This position is full-time, Tuesday – Saturday.  Some evenings are required.   Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the guest experience to ensure the highest level of customer service is achieved
  • Schedule part-time facilitators and volunteers for the Poverty Encounter, gift shop and volunteer room
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for individuals and groups visiting the center
  • Assist in the tracking and reporting of guest attendance, inventory, revenue, and other budget items
  • Outreach to schools, corporate partners, potential donors, and other groups to market the program
  • Facilitate onboarding and initial training for new hires and volunteers
  • Provide solutions to improve the guest experience, and continuously enhance and grow the program
  • Support plans designed to connect guests of the Poverty Encounter to the overall mission of CHF
  • Work with other CHF departments to strengthen communication, relationships and ministry development
  • Actively participate in required meetings and events (e.g. staff meeting, department meeting, Toy Wrap).
  • Confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; active member of a local evangelical Christian church; demonstrates ongoing growth in Christian maturity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Liberal Studies, Child Development, Psychology or a related field
  • 2-3 years of teaching experience in a formal classroom or informal learning environment – extensive time leading groups in youth ministry, camps, and/or tutoring will also be considered; experience working in a non-profit organization is preferred
  • MUST be detail oriented and highly organized; ability to multi-task
  • A team player, with a collaborative mindset and work ethic
  • Skilled in Windows/MS Office/Internet, able to quickly learn new software applications
