Under limited supervision of the NVP, Government Relations, the Government Relations Manager – USDA Programs is responsible for the project management of the USDA programs for snack and meals in the assigned state(s), and ensuring the coordination of various government relations activities.
This position will be based out of our Los Angeles Office
Collaborate with individual club organizations to ensure they meet the requirements for statewide USDA grant
Ensure the timely, accurate and professional preparation of all correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, presentation materials, travel arrangements, expense reports to meet theeeds of the assigned statewide USDA grants.
Establish and maintain current recordkeeping and record retrieval system and type statistical reports and spreadsheets as needed in support of tracking and reporting for assigned statewide USDA grants.
Create and track budgets for assigned statewide USDA grants.
Lead and oversee the development and all invoices, PO's and check requests for assigned USDA grants and ensure they are written and submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
Lead and oversee the implementation of procedures to train, support and monitor local feeding sites including but not limited to coordinating vended services, claims preparation and submission, and menu production.
Provide training to local feeding sites on successful implementation of USDA feeding programs.
Maintain accurate records, both physical and electronic, to ensure adequate documentation is available at all times that demonstrates responsible use of USDA funds.
Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with state agency and USDA regional staff leadership as well as local Club staff.
Work closely with Government Relations staff and various departments within BGCA national headquarters in Atlanta and the regional service centers to further Government Relations initiatives.
Provide superior customer service to all internal and external customers.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the National Vice President, Government Relations.

No direct Reports. May monitor and coordinate the work of temporary employees and student interns
Minimum three years of experience in complex project management, managing operations and administrative tasks required.
Extremely motivated individual with the ability to take initiative and work as a team player. Strong written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability of project and event management and prioritization as well as staff supervision. Demonstrated high standards of ethics and integrity; self-starter with ability to anticipate department needs and respond to those needs; excellent customer service skills. Ability to manage the administrative support to multiple customers from remote locations is necessary. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills required (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook).
High energy, motivated, confident and creative; ability to work for prolonged periods at high levels of activity, managing multiple tasks with varying deadlines; ability to exchange, clearly and concisely, ideas and facts, both written and verbal. Provides ongoing project coordination.
Normal internal office environment.
Approximately 45% travel required (can be up to two weeks or more in a month, depending upon scheduling requirements).
The individual selected for this position must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to navigate areas of the country by using a map or other direction methods.
