Job Description

  • Master’s degree, from an accredited four-year college or university, depending on the program requirements
  • LCSW or MFT – minimum 2 years past licensure experience
  • Two to four years of previous management and supervisory experience
  • Additional credentials or certifications, such as teaching credential, may be required as defined by the program
  • Bilingual English/Spanish may be required
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment




III.       REPORTS TO:         Program Manager or above




  1.       POSITION DESCRIPTION: With limited supervision, the Program Supervisor II is responsible for supervising a professional level staff that delivers direct services to clients with overall responsibility for meeting contractual requirements.  This position is defined by a combination of the size of the budget (typically over $250,000 per year), the number and level of staff and the complexity or impact of the program responsibilities.






  • Provides direct administrative supervision to masters and/or bachelor’s level and other staff assigned to program or function, including recruitment, selection, training, performance evaluation, discipline, etc.
  • Carries out program management activities such as planning, staffing, budget and program development.
  • May have additional complex responsibility for collaborative relationships, family resource centers, treatment centers, DCFS, DMH, etc.
  • Has overall responsibility for all required DMH documentation
  • Identifies potential problems with program area or function and develops possible solutions, obtaining appropriate approvals when necessary
  • Maintains positive external contacts related to program, including reporting to funding sources, collaborative partners, schools, community resources, etc.


Program Supervisor II



  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision to staff. May carry a limited caseload or perform other direct service activities
  • Keeps immediate supervisor and senior management informed regarding progress of program








  • LCSW or LMFT with at least 2 years post-licensure experience and ability to provide clinical supervision to registered interns.
  • Must be available 24 hour per day, 7 days a week – on call
  • Two or more years experience working with low-income, at-risk families
  • Two to four years of previous management or supervisory responsibility, specifically in the area of social work type programs
  • Knowledge of and ability to access community resources
  • Experience with public relations
  • Experience working with fund managers and managing budgets
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to use diagnostic skills to make assessments






  • Maintains confidentiality in matters of agency operations, personnel, and clients
  • Maintains positive communications with all agency staff, clients and visitors
  • Exercises good judgment in performance of duties and responsibilities
  • Supports existing agency policies, principles and mission
  • Other related duties as assigned
