POSITION SUMMARY:  The Assistant Director, Alumni Learning and Career Programs is an essential member of Pomona College’s dynamic alumni and parent engagement team, who are dedicated to increasing involvement and philanthropic support for the College from its alumni, families and friends. Reporting to the Director, Alumni Learning and Career Programs, the Assistant Director will manage key initiatives, programs and events as well as measure the success of those efforts.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work independently and in collaboration with the Director, Alumni Learning and Career Programs and other key campus partners to implement programs and events that meet strategic engagement goals and objectives. These initiatives will account for a range of channels including online communities, multimedia communications and regional events.
  • Manage key initiatives for the department, including but not limited to oversight of the Pomona College Book Club, a signature lifelong learning program, and the development of alumni industry networks and career resources for alumni.
  • Implement and measure the success of various regional career and lifelong learning events.
  • Manage a small portfolio of prospects, typically key program volunteers, to secure financial support for the Pomona College Annual Fund.
  • Support the Alumni and Parent Engagement team with planning and staffing at Alumni Weekend.
  • Supervise Alumni Learning and Career Programs student assistant(s).
  • Other duties as assigned.

     

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of direct or related work experience in higher education, fundraising, nonprofit work, project management, relationship management or a similar/related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  Demonstrated ability to work effectively with volunteers, colleagues and key campus partners. Proven ability to set goals and to develop strategies and timelines to manage projects and reach goals. Ability to work on multiple projects effectively and simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.  Excellent writing skills, with the ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources.  Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds.  Other desired skills include project management, creativity and innovation, adaptability, and social media fluency.  Experience in higher education preferred.

 

REQUIRED HOURS:  The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.  Weekend and evening work hours will be required.  Travel will be required.  Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.

 

ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS:  Regular, full-time, non-exempt.  Starting pay rate: $24.47 per hour.   Please attach a resume and cover letter.
