JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:  Under the direction of the CFO, manages the organization’s $200 million grants budget.  Single staff person working directly with executive and program staff on analytical reviews and special projects. Works directly with Senior Vice Presidents and the Executive Vice President in developing reporting to enable effective management of their operations.  Analyzes activities against targets and reviews results with senior leadership. Runs forecasting process, ensuring accurate spending projections.

 

Position Accountabilities:

  • Grant Budgets
  • Manage the organization’s annual $200 million grant budget process and ensure its timely completion
  • Analyze grant spending against budget, approved, and committed and communicate to grant staff and Executive Team on a weekly, monthly and ad hoc basis
  • Reconcile data within Giving Data, GIFTS and Dynamics Great Plains systems on a monthly basis
  • Meet continually with progam staff as needed to review grant data in Giving Data system and forecast payout on a monthly and annual basis
  • Thoroughly and accurately analyze budget-to-actual, and forecast-to-actual grants results and spending forecast for all departments
  • Develop grants reporting for CFO and SVPs as needed, including creating special reports for Board presentations
  • Responsible for grant activity reports published in Quarterly Monitoring Report to Board of Directors
  • Review contracts and contract payments for compliance with policies and provides direction to contract managers

Financial Reporting and Benchmarking

  • Develop financial performance benchmarks
  • Perform comparative financial analysis and statistical studies
  • Develop financial models to assist in management decision making
  • Prepares Monthly Travel reports for Executive Team reporting
  • Oversee and manage Concur travel and expense
  • Assist in PRI tracking and reporting
  • Serve as Finance liaison in Grants Management Software conversion project
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting
  • Skilled in budget preparation and forecasting process
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with special attention to effectively communicating financial information in report form
  • Conscientious and detail-oriented; very high-level of accuracy in every report produced
  • High level of customer service orientation
  • Willing to work through tight deadlines and unexpected requests
  • Works effectively in a multicultural environment
  • High level of integrity and ethics

 

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
  • CPA preferred

 

Minimum Experience:

  • 6-8 years combination of finance and accounting experience, at least 2 of which in financial planning and analysis
  • Previous experience in a nonprofit or foundation finance department preferred
