  Position Description  

RAND currently has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Press Operator. Under minimal supervision, a Digital Press Operator will use digital printing machines and software programs to effectively create, finish and deliver advanced to highly complex documents on time to internal and external clients using standard policies, procedures and guidelines. The Digital Press Operator will have to multi task as numerous printing projects will be running at the same time.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Operating and maintaining digital press/copiers, networked printers and perfect binding equipment to produce and ensure timely delivery of complex, high quality, efficient and cost-effective printing services to internal and external clients
  • Providing job cost estimates to internal and external clients using production management systems like PrintSmith
  • Determining final job price and entering invoice data into on-line accounting system PrintSmith; creating invoices for external clients
  • Assisting with efficient workflow and scheduling
  • Assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work
  • Responsibility for client digital files of reports and scans to produce high quality output
  • Maintaining effective relations/communications with key clients and external business associates
  • Other duties as assigned


  • A minimum of 3 years of previous experience printing publications
  • Knowledge of digital production presses, digital printers, computers/networks and perfect bindery techniques
  • Skilled in setting up, operating and performing minor maintenance on digital printers and perfect bindery equipment
  • Knowledge of production software, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, pre-press software, variable imaging and variable print pre-press set-up
  • Knowledge of Perfect binding equipment for book production.
  • Knowledge of Mac and PC, MS Office required


  • Knowledge of production management systems like “PrintSmith” preferred
  Education Requirements  

Required: High-school diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Associates degree in a related field

  Security Clearance  


This position requires a security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship is to obtain a security clearance.
