Job Description

Identifies and cultivates key institutional supporters to raise significant foundation funds for projects and programs ranging from unrestricted annual support to multiyear restricted program grants. Collaborates closely with senior leadership and curators to identify content for innovative proposals for exhibitions, education, conservation, library and archives, publications, capital campaigns, and other special projects. Researches, identifies, and forges connections with potential new funding sources. Directs stewardship of Museum’s current portfolio of foundation and education funders through active communications and cultivation plan, including calendar of deadlines for inquiries, proposals, and reports; creation of highest quality proposals, narratives, financial submissions, acknowledgments, renewals, memos, letters, and other fundraising materials; and compilation of financial and institutional documents. Leads meetings with Museum program staff and finance/legal teams as needed to ensure coordination around proposal development and grant requirements. Drafts strategy documents and profiles to prepare senior leadership for meetings with funders, participating in meetings as needed. Develops and regularly updates grants-revenue projections for goal tracking and budget planning. Leads Museum tours and attends relevant events. Supervises Development staff and interns. Reports to Director, Institutional Giving and Development Operations.

 

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred, and seven to 10 years related experience with significant accomplishments in raising foundation gifts, including grant writing, donor-facing portfolio management, and staff management. Knowledge of and passion for modern and contemporary art. Superior written communication skills. Demonstrated record of promoting complex programs and concepts in a clear, compelling, and meaningful way. Superior interpersonal and diplomacy skills. Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to work proactively and calmly under rigorous calendar of deadlines. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining keen attention to detail. Proficiency with complex budgets and financial reporting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Salesforce or other CRM database systems. Ability to work some evenings to attend events, etc.
