Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:  Responsible for the day to day activities for new and existing volunteers, including tours and orientations and assisting with department special events with an annual volume of 35,000+ volunteer shifts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for recruitment, engagement and retention of individual volunteers as well as faith based and academic organizations to include Urban Experience groups.
  • Coordinates and facilitates all volunteer group events.
  • Coordination, facilitation and curriculum development for all volunteers engaging in programmatic activities.
  • Manage Volunteer Management System (VMS) to optimize operational effectiveness.
  • Support for coordination and facilitation of Annual Events.
  • Plan and host new volunteer orientations.
  • Give tours of URM as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year prior experience in a customer service-oriented setting, handling calls and email; ideally with previous event planning or non-profit organization work. Preferably managing volunteers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent organization skills
  • Must have intermediate to advanced level working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and be internet savvy. Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Flexible schedule; willing to work on weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Must possess excellent people and customer service skills and be comfortable talking in a large group setting/ giving tours of the facility.

  • Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to participate in activities related to event decoration, set up and tear down.
  • Able to lift at least 30lbs.
