Job Description

A Place Called Home is seeking a detail-oriented Scholarship Program Coordinator
Under the direction of the Teen and Young Adult Services (TYAS) Academic Lead, the Scholarship Program Coordinator implements program and agency goals, REACH objectives, agency best practices, and program efficiencies. The Scholarship Program Coordinator provides support to the APCH Shaheen Scholarship Program.

Job Title: Scholarship Program Coordinator
Department: Teen and Young Adult Services
Reports to: Teen and Young Adult Services Academic Lead
FLSA Status: Full Time 40 hours per week
Hourly Rate: 15.00-16.00

• Assist with the coordination and execution of all Scholarship programmatic and administrative functions
• Manage Scholarship databases, including Scholarship allocations, check requests, knowledge management, and student compliance
• Work in collaboration with APCH’s Accounting and Development departments to prepare, track, and reconcile budgets on a quarterly basis; develop, collect, and organize of forms and reports associated with the Scholarship program
• Administer Scholarships check requests, and submit reports on funding sources as needed
• Oversee student accounts, documentation for Scholarships participants, and maintenance of accurate rosters for Scholarship candidates, applicants, and recipients
• Plan and execute special Scholarship initiatives, including special events, Scholarship recruitment, application and interview processes; conduct outreach and participate in recruitment efforts as it pertains to the Scholarship program
• Conduct presentations and oversee communication with APCH Shaheen Scholarship Committee for purposes of providing Scholarship related updates, agendas, recommendations, status changes, interview process, award and Scholarship selection process, policy development and review, etc.
• Update APCH Shaheen Scholarship Policy book as needed
• Manage Scholarship review process, which includes but is not limited to the preparation, distribution, and collection of Scholarship applications; audit applications for completeness; distribution of final applications to APCH Shaheen Scholarship Committee; coordination of interview day logistics, including scheduling and confirmation of students and committee member interviews; and photo documentation of the annual college Scholarship interview day
• Prepare and support the APCH Shaheen Scholarship application process, including but not limited to, conducting information sessions, assisting students with the completion of applications, tracking applicant eligibility, and scheduling of applicant interviews
• In partnership with the High School Pathways Coordinator, support the college preparation program, including teaching classes/workshops, assisting with tours and field trips, and planning special events
• Research, develop and implement curriculum for college access and achievement for teen members, scholars, and families
• Responsible for event planning and logistics of the Scholarship program including annual Scholarship awards ceremony, Scholarship Interview Day, Program Orientation Week, Cash for College, professional development workshops and others as needed
• Assist with the coordination of the APCH Shaheen Summer Intensive Program for Scholarship recipients, which includes, but is not limited to, preparing curricula and syllabi, scheduling guest speakers, preparing and collecting assignments, and program logistics as necessary

• Develop and facilitate parent engagement workshops and activities for the Scholarship program at least twice a year
• Assist with all administrative duties that are assigned and execute in a timely manner
• Oversee a caseload of scholars and support their academic and personal development in college
• Assist students with completion of their Financial Aid applications (e.g. FAFSA, Dream Act, and GPA verification form)
• Assist students with applying to Community College, CSU, UC, and Private Colleges
• Assist with the supervision of members during program hours, special events and field trips
• Assist members with homework, applications, research papers, essays, and resumes/cover letters as needed
• Serve as a mentor and role model for members
• Attend all required program meetings
• Assist with all agency events as required
• Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards and values at all times
• Perform other tasks as assigned

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Two years experience working with teen and young adult population
• Two years working in an office environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Physical and Mental Demands
• Able to work in chaotic and high noise level environment typical of a youth center
• Walking, standing required on daily basis
• Sitting and use of hands/vision for computer work for extended periods of time
• Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Able to communicate and convey accurate information
• Type 45WPM
