The mission at Kidspace Children’s Museum is to nurture the potential of all children through kid-driven experiences, inspiring them to become joyful, active learners. 

Serving over 378,000 guests each year, Kidspace Children’s Museum is a unique children’s museum that is mainly outdoors featuring more than 50 hands-on exhibits, programs, and monthly events on almost 3.5 acres of space. Kidspace encourages a child’s growth and development through explorations of natural environments, investigations in science, and artistic forms of expression that captivate the inquisitive and growing minds of children ages 1 to 10.

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the strategic leadership and involved management of Kidspace Children’s Museum. The Chief Executive Officer leads the museum through articulating vision, strategic planning, management of daily operations, fundraising, development of staff, relations with volunteers, program development and management, financial management, and relations with the broader community and other institutions. The CEO works in partnership with, and reports to the Board of Trustees.


The successful candidate will have significant and proven leadership and management experience in a business, non-profit or museum (preferably). It is essential the candidate demonstrates success in developing a cohesive team to create and promote highly-effective, guest-centric services and attitudes among all staff enhancing the visitor experience. The new leader will be an advocate both internally and externally for education and life-long learning and the impact informal learning environments have on children.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required. A master’s degree preferred.

Kidspace Children’s Museum seeks a creative and visionary leader who demonstrates a passion for education and life-long learning and understands the impact of interactive, informal learning environments. It is critically important that the Chief Executive Officer fosters a culture of collegiality, fun, and collaboration within the team and throughout the museum. The ideal candidate has extensive experience and success leading teams that deliver financially sustainable results. 

As the key spokesperson for Kidspace Children’s Museum, the CEO will be a dynamic, energetic communicator who can influence others to action, be they board members, donors, elected officials, corporate executives or other supporters.

The ideal candidate will show evidence of successful fundraising leadership that includes acquisition of major gifts and grants from foundations, corporations, individuals, and the public sector at the local, state, and national level.

The CEO is able to advance the vision of the museum while also effectively engaging with the daily running of the museum. A demonstrated successful track record of astute financial operations oversight, data-driven decision making and delegation is expected, as well as a passion for and understanding of early learning. The ideal candidate will integrate a culture of creativity and innovation with successful business operations.

Salary: $150,000-$200,000
