Job Description

The purpose of The Children’s Partnership’s Internship Program is to encourage high school and undergraduate students to get involved in the nonprofit sector focused on children and families by introducing them to TCP’s approach to advocacy for children’s wellbeing and sharing the rewards and challenges of public interest work.



Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions

·     Become knowledgeable of The Children's Partnership's style and strategic approach.

·     Collect, input, and report data from TCP community engagement activities, such as presentations, community events, and partnerships/contacts made during various TCP activities.

·     Support with data management, including organizing, cleaning and updating existing lists and databases.

·     Support with inventory, tracking and shipment of materials to schools, resource centers, and other partners.

·     Support TCP event planning, preparation, and implementation.

·     Support community engagement efforts, including story collection, social media, and partner communications.

·     Assist in multiple aspects of coalition work and select special projects.

·     Reach out to The Children's Partnership’s staff to learn staff members’ roles and how they fit together.

·     Provide quality, concise yet thorough, and well-thought out work products.

·     Attend internal meetings and community events/meetings/phone calls/webinars, as relevant.

·     Upon receiving training, participate in community-based presentations, as part of our Let’s Talk program with support from the Community Engagement Associate or the Community Engagement Manager.

·     Support research efforts for the creation or updating of material under the ALL IN projects.

·     Support with the development and implementation of a program evaluation method.

Education and Experience Required

·     Commitment to child health equity.


Education and Experience Desired (Optional)

·     Experience with nonprofit organizations, specifically in the areas of policy analysis, community organizing, and/or community education.

·     Physical Demands. While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Job requires sitting at a computer 1-2 hours per day. Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.

·     Work Environment. While performing the duties of this job, the majority of employee time will be spent in an office setting. The noise level is usually minimal.

·     Travel. Travel to and participation at community events, conferences, and presentations is required, representing 5% of overall time.
