Job Description

The Accountant II is responsible for:

  • Maintaining accounting data for multiple programs (some with multiple grants) while managing varying grant requirements
  • Preparing journal entries, worksheets, and financial reports using automated as well as hands-on accounting practices using GAAP
  • Create program and corporate budgets
  • Analyze program budget vs. actual and explain variences
  • Assist in program start-up and RFP
  • Monitor program actual expenditures and compare to budget and make recommendation to align actual expenses to budget
  • Coordinate program contract execution and submission
  • Providing financial analyses and participating in budget preparation


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting expereince
  • 1-2 years of public accounting experience perferred
  • Excellent grasp of accounting principles required
  • Demonstrated attention to detail absolutely required

Additional Preferred:

  • Ability to effectively perform all accounting functions from journal entry through closing
  • Expereience in not-for-profit organization and/or grant management preffered
  • Limited audit background is a plus
  • Excellent Excel, math, and organizational skills
