Job Description

The Machine Learning Engineer will contribute to The Trevor Project’s life-saving work by developing machine learning and natural language processing models that drive significant increases in quality of care and scalability for our crisis services. This individual will help lead the development of the machine learning models from concept to productionization, and integrate them across our platforms and services. The successful candidate will work closely with domain experts across The Trevor Project and will leverage advice and expertise from external partners and advisors.

  • Experienced. You have 3-5 years of machine learning and natural language processing experience in a high-tech environment, and have developed high-performing models from concept to production

What you’ll do

  • Design, evaluate, and deploy machine learning and natural language processing models
  • Setup and maintain the data infrastructure and pipeline, managing all aspects from ingest and ETL to analytics
  • Develop ML code in Python, TensorFlow or PyTorch, as well as other languages where appropriate (e.g., R)
  • Develop automated tools and processes that anonymize data and scrub them of PII
  • Write code to integrate productionized models with The Trevor Project’s platforms and services
  • Work with domain experts to understand signals that may be predictive of the risk of suicide
  • Evaluate the performance of ML models for suicide risk prediction using appropriate statistical methodologies
  • Stay apprised of the latest research and findings in ML and NLP
  • Partner with departments across The Trevor Project to implement models and monitor outcomes
  • Develop new approaches to sourcing, analyzing, and labeling data for suicide risk prediction
