Job Description

Specific job responsibilities:

  • Development: With guidance from the Executive Director, manages activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations (i.e., research, outreach, and initial letters of inquiry).  
  • Leads development and prospecting research activities, including setting up calls and meetings for Executive Director with potential funders.
  • Maintains careful and accurate tracking of all institutional funds being sought and received, including multi-year grants. Tracks deadlines for proposals and reports to ensure timely submission of complete reporting packages, and inquiries about renewed support.
  • Develops, writes, and submits grant proposals and report packages for specific foundations, corporations and government funding sources.
  • Project management of proposal development for on-time proposal and report completion.
  • Maintain office systems and files (electronic and hard copy) to support all Development projects, timelines, deadlines, budgets, and operations.  
  • Implements all donor and gift record-keeping, including all records, files, gift processing, and written acknowledgement of all gifts to donors.

  • Communications:
  • Manages the organization’s digital communications platforms, including the website, social media, and email marketing.
  • Facilitates  positive press coverage reflecting partner schools, the program, and the organization.
  • Supports brand consistency, accuracy, and compliance across a variety of platforms and partners.   
  • Helps develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan across the organization's discreet audiences; put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities.

  • Artist and Event Management: With support from the Executive Assistant, manage school visits and special events with high-profile artists and VIPs including, but not limited to:
  • Planning and facilitating school visits, events, and performance opportunities.
  • Acting as a liaison between schools, Turnaround Arts national, and artist management teams.
  • Managing media, vendors, volunteers, and photo/video crews, as necessary.
  • Ensuring necessary permits, releases, written agreements and other necessary permissions are obtained to support events and event documentation.

  • This position will require 10%-15% travel, including occasional overnight travel.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field of study
  • 3+ years of professional fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector, specifically grant writing
  • Demonstrated experience to perform the job responsibilities outlined above

  • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Mail, Calendar, and Drive
  • Fluency with donor databases, Adobe Creative Suite, Wordpress, Mailchimp, and basic HTML
  • Ability and willingness to perform a variety of tasks as shifting program demands require
