Job Description

Under the general direction of the Special Education Program Administrator and/or Director Special Education and Psychological Services, the Speech, Language Pathologist provides specialized instruction and services for students who have disorders of language and speech; performs language assessments; assists in developing the Individualized Educational Program for students with language and speech deficits; supervises the Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant, and confers with teachers and parents.

> Administers and interprets appropriate speech and language evaluations
> Consults with classroom teachers and staff regarding students with communication disorders
> Consults with parents regarding methods parents can use at home to help their child with carryover strategies
> Develops and administers speech and language therapy program consistent with the needs of students and according to established IEP goals
> Consults with teachers in alleviating student’s communication delay
> Participates in IEP and Student Success Team pertinent to students with speech and language issues
> Assists in the development and implementation of IEP goals in relation to Speech and Language
> Evaluates student progress in the Speech and Language program and communicates with parents and teachers
> Supervises SLPA and/or Conducts regular therapy sessions, individual and groups; prepares the “goals” as part of the Speech Therapy Report on each student scheduled for therapy
> Provides speech and language screening services
> Communicates and coordinates the speech and language program with teachers, resources staff, and administration
> Develops schedules for student’s speech and language services
Supervises the Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)
> Maintains student records and attendance reporting as required by the District
> Prepares individual case file on each pupil and those considered for therapy, including Special Language reports
> Participates in the completion of district Special Education reports and requests for information
> Consults with community agencies, medical personnel, parents, and other professionals, and acts as a liaison among these groups for children with communicative disorders
> Attends staff, district, county and other meetings as necessary
> Provides staff development to others on speech and language services and language development
> Secures written parental consent when student is to be tested beyond screening procedures.
> Performs other related duties, as assigned

> A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders
> A valid CA Speech-Language Pathologist state license
> A valid CA Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential
> A valid Driver’s License

> You will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer

The annual salary for this full-time position begins at $78,000. We offer a comprehensive benefits plan including (but not limited to) medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement options.
