Job Description

Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Marketing & Communications Specialist with excellent customer service skills to work in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters.  The Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting PPLA’s marketing objectives and communications strategies to achieve the agency’s goals.  They will coordinate and implement digital and offline strategies, initiatives, and programs aimed at patient recruitment and retention, and to promote and elevate PPLA.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • Experience with constituent relationship online engagement tools
    • Experience working with content management systems
    • Graphic design experience and/or good design aesthetic
    • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
    • Must be fluent in all major social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and actively keep up with trends and emerging platforms
    • Proficiency in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Knowledge of social media best-practices preferred
    • Basic video editing skills preferred
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
    • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as required
    • Valid driver's license with access to reliable transportation, current insurance and willingness to travel as needed

About the position:

    • Manage PPLA website and work with all departments to ensure information is current and accurate. Manage both routine and urgent updates, and coordinate migration processes
    • Manage PPLA social media properties (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube). Create strong presence through written and visual content. Set goals, evaluation and tracking systems, and strategies to improve reach and effectiveness
    • Maintain Yelp, Google business listings, other online marketing platforms. Monitor and respond to comments
    • Attend events as assigned to maximize social media coverage
    • Draft and disseminate consistent and engaging messaging including email updates and e-newsletters to PPLA audiences
    • Manage CMS (EveryAction), including lists, email approvals, and oversee migration campaigns. Identify and pursue best practices by using A/B testing, list-segmentation, and other tools
    • Assist Director of Communications & Director of Marketing with digital advertising and marketing campaigns (ex: health center openings, new service roll-out, etc.)
    • Maintain organized photo and video library for the agency
    • Support Education, Development, and other agency departments by promoting online educational content and promoting events
    • Assist in compiling data for market analysis and research projects; support Patient Services in these initiatives as necessary
    • Assist Director of Communications & Director of Marketing by drafting written materials for newsletters, Annual Reports, press releases, and other publications
    • Draft Talking Points and other presentations for senior staff and PPLA spokespeople
    • Support message trainings for staff and other stakeholders
    • Coordinate press conferences and media presence at events
