Common Threads is seeking a development executive to lead fundraising efforts across the country for our growing organization. The VP will work with the team to develop revenue from individual donors, institutional funders, including corporations, foundations, and government entities. The VP of Development makes recommendations on organizational strategy and works as a part of the organization’s Leadership Team to help advance Common Threads’ strategic plan. As a seasoned relationship manager, the VP of Development will prospect the organization’s revenue and be responsible for stewarding donors and managing the organization’s philanthropic pipeline. The VP will also collaborates with Common Threads leaders and front line staff to develop new revenue streams, including working with Program staff as they develop fee for service or co-investment partnerships.
Lead fundraising and external relations efforts for a growing national nonprofit
Work with CEO, the VP of Strategic Partnerships, the development team, the national board and other key stakeholders on setting philanthropic priorities and establishing a fundraising strategy that provides maximum support to the organization.
Establish a new business strategy, strategically cultivating relationships with new prospects through stakeholder engagement initiatives
Directly compose and provide support to colleagues and board members in their creation and delivery of pitches, proposals, and sponsorships to a variety of funders, including government entities, corporations and foundations.
Direct donor stewardship efforts, including cultivation, recognition, and data management.
Manage mid-level and junior-level Development staff of four employees, with support from freelance or contracted staff
Actively cultivate and manage relationships with a portfolio of major funders to diversify and grow Common Threads’ philanthropic pipeline
Support execution of seasonal giving appeals and campaigns, including our Summer Health Campaign, Cooking for Life month, and regional philanthropic initiatives (i.e., Activate Austin and Give Miami Day)
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
10 or more years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, including major gifts, grants, individual giving and corporate & foundation giving
At least five years of experience in senior leadership in a nonprofit setting
Ability to travel to Common Threads’ major markets, approximately 25% of the time.
Strong skills in written & verbal communication, organization and collaboration
Ability to take initiative and demonstrate professionalism and resourcefulness
Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, Google Drive documents, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, such as Salesforce
Experience working with culturally diverse audiences and modeling a culture of inclusion
Experience and/or high comfort level working virtually with internal and external team members

The candidate may work out of Common Threads' Chicago, Austin or Miami offices, or remotely from Dallas, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Washington DC or New York
