MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger seeks a Major Gifts Officer to cultivate and secure significant donations to the organization. This position is an integral part of the development team, working to determine effective strategies for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects. This individual will manage a portfolio of 125-150 major gift prospects, including individual donors, corporations, and institutions; and manage donors with a capacity of $10,000 or more.  This position will report to the Director of Development.   Duties and Responsibilities: ·       Collaborates and develops strategies with the Director of Development and members of the Development team.  ·       Works closely with program staff to gain in-depth knowledge on MAZON’s programs and initiatives. ·       Cultivates and solicits donors for major gifts of $10,000 or more.  ·       Listens for opportunities for gifts of assets or other non-cash gifts, such as planned gifts.  ·       Stewards major donors and provides opportunities for donors to receive recognition and increase future giving opportunities.  ·       Understands and complies with all MAZON gift-related policies and procedures and ensures ethical compliance, as defined by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.   ·       Set and meet fundraising objectives with the Director of Development, evaluating results and developing corrective strategies as needed. ·       Develop multi-year fundraising strategies and goals. ·       Other duties as assigned.   Knowledge/skills: ·       Fundraising within the Jewish community and/or anti-hunger related causes and issues. ·       Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results. Salesforce or other database and prospecting software  experience a plus. ·       Successful experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors. ·       Knowledge of current trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving. Working knowledge of charitable gift planning. ·       Successful experience in asking for and closing major gifts of $10,000 or more and building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents such as major donors and corporations. ·       Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to positively influence, inspire, motivate, and persuade.  ·       Experience researching potential donors.    Complexity/problem solving: ·       Ability to design, implement, and direct fundraising initiatives, including individualized cultivation, solicitation and recognition strategies. ·       Ability to communicate a compelling and inspired vision or sense of core purpose. ·       Ability to make good decisions based on analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment. •     Ability to maintain confidentiality.   Communications/interpersonal contacts: ·       Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to persuasively convey the mission of MAZON to diverse groups including donors, corporate executives, board members and others who are important to the organization’s overall prosperity. ·       Ability to work with and communicate with a wide range of people—the public, influential donors, prospects and others. ·       Ability to develop relationships, and educate and inform prospective and existing donors about appropriate giving vehicles. ·       Ability to build constructive and effective relationships with development team. Qualifications: ·       Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3-5 years development work experience. Major gifts fundraising experience required. ·       Fundraising within the Jewish community and/or anti-hunger related causes and issues. ·       Experience, coursework, or other training in current trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of major gifts and planned giving.  ·       Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors. ·       Experience in asking for and closing major gifts of $10,000 or more.  ·       Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents such as major donors and corporations. ·       Experience in developing a pipeline of prospects to cultivate for major gifts. ·       Candidates must be willing to travel and be able to work evenings and weekends.   Benefits Excellent benefits: Life Insurance, Long Term Disability, Medical , Dental and Vision insurance FSA Benefits. Founded in 1985, MAZON, which means “food” in Hebrew, was the first national organization to rally the American Jewish community around the issue of hunger and remains the only national Jewish organization dedicated exclusively to that same cause.  MAZON supports anti-hunger and advocacy programs in local communities across the United States and uses its influence and resources at the state and national levels to help people who are at risk of hunger. Through direct advocacy, pursuing public policy change, and addressing the stigma that surrounds hunger, we work to change the systems that allow hunger to persist. Working with and listening to its broad network of anti-hunger, social justice, and Jewish community partners, MAZON identifies overlooked issues and vulnerable populations and finds policy solutions that meet unmet needs. We spotlight these issues, elevating them to the level of national conversation and placing them on the national policy agenda. Position Overview:  MAZON seeks a Deputy Director of Communications who will work with the Director of Communications to implement a strategic, multi-faceted communications program designed to promote the organization’s advocacy priorities, as well as build and strengthen the organization's role and reputation as a leader and authoritative voice in its field. The Deputy Director of Communications will have experience with communications or public relations. This position will work closely with MAZON’s Development department and will be a liaison between the Communications and Development departments. The Deputy Director of Communications reports to the Director of Communications.  Duties & Responsibilities: ·     Work closely with the Director of Communications on advocacy and public relations activities (traditional, digital and social) to help advance MAZON’s advocacy agenda. ·     Monitor and remain current on anti-hunger trends, public policies, and political, social or cultural developments that may present unique opportunities to raise MAZON’s profile and brand. ·     Conceive, write, edit, design and maintain organizational and programmatic content – newsletters, web and blog posts, one-pagers, brochures, ads, infographics, etc. ·     Build and foster collaborative relationships with other departments within the organization to stay informed of new and ongoing initiatives. ·     Media relations – support and take direction from the Director of Communications in building internal media lists on the Cision communications platform for press releases and message targeting ·     Compile information for reporters and provide deputy functions in outreach to editorial Boards and newsrooms ·     Social media – capability to identify and frame current events to strengthen MAZON’s brand and message ·     Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: ·     Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree a plus. ·     Minimum 4 years of experience in communications and/or PR, with demonstrated responsibility for writing and design of external-facing content ·     Must have experience pitching media, be organized and goal oriented. ·     Strong written and verbal communication skills ·     Excellent judgment, critical thinking and problem-solving skills ·     Keen eye for design and attention to detail ·     Ability to take direction well is a must. ·     Experience working in a nonprofit that engages in advocacy highly desired. The Social Media Specialist will be fluent in both English and Hebrew and work in our Los Angeles office. This position reports to the Director of Communications and will be responsible for elevating the public’s and policymakers’ awareness of food insecurity in the U. S. and Israel; amplifying public education and other creative campaigns in both countries; and fostering and facilitating message delivery on MAZON’s social media platforms.    Duties and Responsibilities: ·      Work with the US-based Director of Communications and the Israel Program Director to develop and execute social media communications work plans ·      Develop, produce and publish creative, engaging and brand-strong content for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram as appropriate for the U.S. and Israel platforms, including oversight of the layout of images, graphics, videos and digital artwork ·      Monitor and analyze social media traffic to measure effectiveness and key performance indicators  ·      Creative and collaborative approach to digital media, including brainstorming for new initiatives and campaigns that are on-brand, authoritative, and outside-the-box. ·      Drive traffic to the MAZON website. Build a community and increase brand awareness ·      Explore the value of developing and managing a website for MAZON’s Israel programs and objectives on food security research, data, and policy information  ·      Ensure MAZON’s compliance with Israel’s copyright and privacy regulations on digital projects ·      Launch a Hebrew MAZON Twitter account and develop it as a news tool to promote key initiatives and topics on food security, poverty and hunger in Israel   Qualifications: ·      Fluency in English and Hebrew required ·      Minimum 2 years professional experience in social media program and platform management  ·      Proficiency in current social media user interface, algorithms, and trends ·      Excellent writing, editing and copywriting skills in English and Hebrew ·      Proven work experience in developing and editing digital content ·      Digital campaign ideation and implementation a huge plus ·      Experience managing Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube within the last five years ·      Proficiency with MS Office, Mac OS X, and publishing tools  ·      Analytics experience preferred ·      Experience working in a non-profit that engages in advocacy is highly desired.
