The mission of Elizabeth House is to provide shelter and family-focused support to homeless pregnant women and their children. This is lovingly done through a comprehensive program that addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual, and economic needs of women and children in a nurturing atmosphere. A significant part of the Elizabeth House program is to provide on-going support to its alumni.

The Director of Development works in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, supervising the Community Engagement and Marketing Manager and the Development Assistant. The position is responsible for directing all aspects of the fund development strategy for Elizabeth House. S/he must be able to think strategically and practically to implement a comprehensive and results-oriented plan using traditional and innovative methods.   Specific areas of responsibility include:   I.         Fund Development a)     Designs, implements, direct and manage all agency fundraising activities including annual giving, endowment and capital campaigns, direct mail appeals, special projects and other agency solicitations. b)    Ensures that all fundraising is in line with the organization’s values, mission, vision and goals. c)     Researches, recommends and manages all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation and relations, including developing strategies for existing donors to effectively move through a meaningful cycle of giving. d)    Coordinates foundation and corporate giving. Works with grant writer to ensure research, submission, calendar, pipeline, and reports of grant proposals. e)     Develops a comprehensive planned giving program. f)       Identifies, cultivates, recruits and organizes development leaders and volunteers. g)    Works with new and existing churches and civic groups to cultivate support and partnership. h)     Oversees brand and marketing strategies.   II.       Board of Directors a)     Works with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop, initiate and meet aggressive fund raising goals. b)    Helps establish performance measures, monitors results and helps the Executive Director and Board evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s fund development program. c)     Responsible for all development reports to the Executive Director, and for Board meetings and other agencies as requested.   III.     Office Infrastructure and Donor Relations a)     Creates and manages the day-to-day operations of all fund development activities. b)    Oversees the Development Assistant execution of donor and gift record-keeping, including the management of databases and all files. c)     Oversees acknowledgement of all gifts to donors. d)    Ensures donors are kept up to date with Elizabeth House activities and events. e)     Organize an annual donor appreciation event.   IV.   Public Relations and Communications a)     Develop and implement a cost-effective public relations plan to communicate with a range of constituencies through print and electronic media. b)    Oversee the design and production of all major publications, including agency newsletter, annual reports, agency website, emails, and social media posts to promote fundraising goals and activities. c)     Work with Executive Director and staff to integrate fund development messaging in publications, grant submissions, reports and collateral materials. d)    Represents Elizabeth House at community events, in networking groups and in the public. e)     Finds opportunities for co-marketing and co-branding with businesses and church partners that align with our mission and brand.   V.     Special Events a)     Oversee the planning and implementation of all special events, including but not limited to Annual Benefit Gala, Garden Party, and donor receptions. b)    Creates the event management plan and assigns duties and due dates to team. c)     Works with the Development team on branding and themes of events, as well as execution of related communications and collateral. d)    Helps recruit volunteers to serve on event committees, with efforts to cultivate them into donors. e)     Works with Committee, ED, and support staff in the administration, procurement, mailings, and logistics of all PR Events.   VI.               Grants and Reports a)     Assigns, edits, and manages submission and response tracking for grant proposals and reports. Includes writing grant proposals and reports and assigning to contract grant writer and staff. b)    Makes annual grant projections and researches new grant opportunities to ensure aggressive Foundation fund raising goals.   Qualifications ·        Demonstrates servant leadership and exemplifies a collaborative, decisive, motivating and engaging communication style. ·        Bachelor’s degree required in fundraising or related field. ·        A minimum of 5 years professional fundraising experience, public relations/marketing and management. ·        Proven track record of raising funds from diverse sources, including major gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations. ·        Experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, contracts management and special events. ·        Knowledge of connections to the funding community in Los Angeles and California. ·        Demonstrated commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes and a results-oriented culture. ·        Strong written and verbal communication skills. ·        Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail. ·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. ·        Familiarity with donor tracking systems. ·        Ability to work with diverse groups of people. ·        Sound judgment, professionalism and a positive attitude. ·        Resourcefulness, creativity and strong problem-solving skills. ·        Familiarity with homelessness, domestic violence and child abuse issues a plus.   Benefits Salary to be determined based on experience.
