Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA, USA

Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles (JFS) has a long and continuous history of providing services on a non-sectarian basis to families and individuals in need. Since its inception over 150 years ago, the agency has evolved into a multi-faceted, multi-service organization. The mission of JFS is to strengthen and enhance individual, family and community life by providing a wide range of services at every stage of the life cycle, with an emphasis on disadvantaged populations.

Our comprehensive programs are based on collaborative partnerships and coalition building. This coordinated approach minimizes wasteful duplication, maximizes existing resources within the Los Angeles community, and helps us to create new programs and services of greatest benefit to the target populations we serve.

Operating over 50 programs, our service sites have expanded to over 20 locations, serving over 55,000 residents throughout Los Angeles County each year. We are dedicated to serving traditionally hard-to-reach segments of the population. Our service areas include the following: older adults; counseling; children and families; food and hunger; disabilities/special needs; immigrant services and shelter services. JFS sponsors four counseling offices, five senior multi-service centers, and specialized programs in the prevention and treatment of family violence, substance abuse, homelessness and services to people with mental health issues.
