A Place Called Home is a safe haven in South Central Los Angeles where underserved youth are empowered to take ownership of the quality and direction of their lives through programs in education, arts, and well-being; and are inspired to make a meaningful difference in their community and the world.

A Place Called Home is a dynamic, non-profit youth center located in South Central Los Angeles. APCH provides educational programs, counseling, mentoring, music, dance and art classes. We also have a recreation and athletic department. One on one attention is at the heart of all APCH programs and activities. This reflects the belief that each member arrives at our center with skills and abilities that have not fully been realized. As youth participate in our programs, they discover their interests and talents. APCH strives to help youth achieve a better sense of themselves and the world around them. Our goal is to increase the likelihood that they will stay in school and go on to higher education and viable jobs.

Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Finance Director, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining and managing all of the agency’s accounting functions. Education/Training/Experience • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in accounting. Master’s degree a plus. • 4 years’ experience as a lead accountant in a nonprofit organization, preferably with a budget of $3 million dollars or larger • Knowledge of best practices in non-profit accounting • 10-key proficiency • Knowledge of GAAP for non-profit organizations • Extensive knowledge of functional expense allocations • MAC and PC literate • Proficiency with The Financial Edge or other fund accounting software • Familiarity with donor databases. Under the direction of the Associate Program Director, Teen & Young Adult Services, the Professional Readiness and Employment Program (PREP) Lead will ensure program execution aligns with department goals, strategy, budget and expectations. The PREP Lead will liaison with APCH Programs staff, local businesses, municipalities and corporate entities to cultivate partnerships, explore internship and externship opportunities and develop new career and vocational training routes that will lead to employment opportunities. The PREP Lead will create, develop and steward relationships with potential employers that will assist in the realization of the vision for PREP - to prepare, train and support young people from marginalized communities and disadvantaged backgrounds to enter the world of employment ready to compete in the work marketplace and to explore and pursue meaningful careers that will be rewarding both financially and personally.   The PREP Lead will also assistmembers with identifying career interests; administer career assessments; develop career plans and provide case management; coordinate and facilitate job-readiness workshops; develop and maintain job/vocational opportunities; and track program participants participation and performance. Under the direction of the  Associate Director, Teen and Young Adult Services, the  Scholarship Compliance Coordinator  implements program and agency goals, REACH objectives, agency best practices, and program efficiencies. The Coordinator provides key support in programming application and policy.   The  Scholarship Compliance Coordinator  is responsible for ensuring all Shaheen Scholarship Program Scholars meet program and academic requirements to remain in compliance with the program and graduate from college on time. They will establish regular communication with all Scholars and refer, as needed, to APCH internal services such as counseling, case management and vocational services, and external services available at the partner institutions. The Coordinator will be an expert in resources available at scholars’ partner institutions and will build and foster relationships with key staff there. They will track scholar compliance and provide regular reporting on all Scholars’ standings, develop and recommend correction plans for students on probation or suspension and coordinate with APCH staff on wraparound support needed.
