Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Marketing & Communications designs, implements and manages strategies and tactics for all digital, website, video and public relations messages and collateral to position TreePeople as the recognized leader in forestry, stormwater harvesting, environmental education, and environmental resilience through its multi-benefit green infrastructure projects and forward-thinking public policy and research. A major strategic priority for the organization is to develop and implement communications tools and strategies to support increased goals for fund development and to mobilize a critical mass of people through campaigns, magnifying the brand of TreePeople, and maximizing the use of technology.    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES ? Work with the Chief Executive Officer, the Board Chair and the Chief Development Officer to craft and lead the creation, implementation and evaluation of an ambitious, focused and cohesive annual Marketing & Communications plan across targeted audiences and regions.   ? Oversee the marketing and communications team, supervise the daily generation of impactful online content, email strategy, visual storytelling and multichannel campaigns that engages and increases audience segments and leads to measurable action and larger impact.   ? Implement communications activities in support of a more ambitious fund development campaign as determined in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Development Officer, and test the effectiveness of such activities.   ? Develop creative messaging to inform content strategies and story arcs for campaigns, project communications, and online platforms.   ? Supervise and manage the marketing and communications team and the processes and procedures for content management and publication.   ? Manage the development and strategic dissemination of all collateral including: newsletters, online marketing, digital advocacy, videos, press releases, brochures, and signage.   ? Manage media relations and strategies, including generating and distributing press releases, managing spokespeople and talking points.   ? Cultivate celebrities and influencers to engage in campaigns, attend events and support TreePeople online.   ? Track and measure key performance indicators in partnership with the marketing and communications team and make strategic recommendations.   ? Create and implement a digital advocacy program in partnership with key departments to further engage people in actions they can take in support of forestry, environmental education and climate and water resilience.  ? Work collaboratively with all executive leadership members, departments, outside vendors, public agency representatives, business and community partners to expand partnership opportunities.  ? Manage external vendors and partners; negotiate contracts to be favorable to the organization     Requirements THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS   ? Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing and/or communications with a working knowledge on both areas ? Strong work ethic, excellent judgement, forward-thinking and highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies ? Management and project management skills needed to reorganize, inspire and lead a strong and effective marketing and communications department. ? Superb writing/editing and verbal communication skills ? Experience in writing  or editing content for traditional media, social media and web content ? Experience in launching an online advocacy program, including a strong background in online campaigning, email marketing and digital advocacy experience. ? A strong track record as an implementer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently ? Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including the internal team, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters ? 1. Manage Social Media Marketing Campaigns based upon TreePeople’s brand, key messages, and strategic priorities:   Create, edit, share, curate and manage content, focusing on written and visual stories to increase engagement with targeted audiences, including students, donors, activists, homeowners and policymakers. Work closely with all TreePeople Departments to gather relevant stories Execute a Social Media calendar developed with the Director of Marketing & Communications Community management via monitoring, listening, and responding to users  Develop and expand community and/or blogger outreach efforts Develop and update social media platform design (i.e.  Facebook Timeline cover, profile pic, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, and blog) working closely with TreePeople designers Manage photo, story and video assets, working closely with TreePeople’s Photography Specialist Design, create, and manage promotions and social ads Stay current with all Social Media trends on existing and future platforms. Monitor trends in Social Media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy. Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the Social Media Campaigns.   2. Manage day-to-day execution of online/website and blog marketing channels. Draft original  content for email marketing, website, media relations and grant writing Help develop and execute a Marketing and Communications Calendar to schedule, share and track trending stories Work closely with Marketing and Communications, Development, and other TreePeople Departments to continually gather content and images and create and/or edit stories to trigger interest, conversation, funding and action to achieve our goals.    3. Support the Marketing and Communications Department as needed.     THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS   The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills and a keen sense of writing for various audiences in different media. He/she will have demonstrated knowledge of social media management and digital communications, and proven graphics skills. Candidates should be fluent in current technologies and up-to-date on best practices in digital communications/social media.  Candidates should be comfortable in a rigorous, fast-paced environment that requires collaboration, creativity, flexibility and adaptability, working with a range of departments and programs.   Requirements Education/ Experience BA in Communications, Marketing or a related field strongly preferred. 2-3 years of managing social media. Experience in storytelling and the creation of engaging content that creates a call to action for audiences across multiple audiences and digital platforms. Excellent writing, copyediting and proofreading skills. Writing sample required. Exceptional communication and organizational skills. Work experience in non-for-profit sector. Work in policy/advocacy sector a plus. Design and Photoshop skills ideal.

Reporting to the Director of Park Operations, the Facilities Maintenance Manager is responsible for all building, structures, and equipment maintenance at our facilities at Coldwater Canyon.   ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform minor and major repairs of all structures and equipment throughout the property.   • Perform preventative maintenance on building and equipment on a scheduled basis.   • Perform minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools   • Perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.)     • Perform minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.   • Clean restrooms, conference center, and other common areas.   • Manage staff, interns and volunteers on various departmental projects.     • Provide minor maintenance to heating and cooling systems.    • Coordinate work with consultants, vendors and service providers.    • Respond to emergency maintenance requests, as required.   • Assist the Director of Park Operations on various projects.      Requirements THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS   • 3 to 5 years of facility maintenance or construction project experience. • General construction tool knowledge and experience. • Ability to diagnose problems and develop solutions. • Understanding of sustainable/green design concepts. • Light construction experience required. • Enjoys working outdoors and in a park setting. • Valid California Driver’s License • Ability to interact positively with staff, volunteers and the public.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, this position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing, as well as frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds.
