The Talent Manager provides vital expertise and innovation in recruitment and staff development, functioning as a valued partner to hiring managers, supervisors and staff. They manage confidential and sensitive information, have an awareness of California’s unique HR requirements, are highly organized and will be involved in execution of a variety of talent development programs throughout the chapter.    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS   The Talent Manager serves as central hub of recruiting activity. Collaborates across functions to build and implement effective, proactive, and efficient recruitment strategies and processes to address immediate talent needs in the chapter. Primary responsibilities include: Assists in developing targeted recruiting plans for a variety of positions (in 10 unique job categories), employing traditional sourcing strategies and resources as well as proposing new, innovative ideas. Partners with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and outreach plans, may source and evaluate candidates, and interview candidates as appropriate. The Operations Manager may also be responsible for Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, Information Systems, Office Management and/or Safety.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS   The Operations Manager will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the program by developing and implementing tactics for approved plans, and completing and/or overseeing day-to-day tasks. They may be responsible for central administrative processes, including facility management, telecommunications, mailroom operations, supervising telephone/public reception, maintaining office supplies and equipment, and purchasing requests. They are responsible for supporting the development and implementation of annual budgets, and monitoring progress. They may provide assistance to all levels of staff on Human Resources issues, working closely with the Regional Human Resources Business Partner. The Operations Manager will provide guidance in satisfying requirements based on extensive knowledge of policies and procedures, including extensive work with Non-Real Estate Contracts. They will interpret guidelines and analyze factual information to achieve results, improve workflow, and solve problems. They will provide recommendations and targeted training related to the functional activity they manage. The Operations Manager will work in close cooperation with any or all of the following: Conservancy staff, donors, volunteers, vendors, public agencies, financial institutions, and legal and accounting professionals. They will keep up-to-date on market trends and best practices in order to improve services. They will organize and coordinate diverse activities, project outcomes, monitor progress, and implement solutions, in consultation with leadership.   RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE   The OPERATIONS MANAGER does some combination of the following: •    Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems; •    Ensure programmatic commitments, Conservancy policies and procedures, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance. Provides opportunity for donors to receive recognition and increase future giving opportunity.  Reports to the CA Chief Development Officer and serves on the philanthropy senior management team. Supervises a team of major gift fundraisers located throughout Northern California. Involves and engages conservation and science staff in the field and staff at the World Office, collaborating closely on strategies interactions, issues or concerns. Understands and complies with all TNC gift-related policies and procedures and ensures ethical compliance, as defined by the Association for Fundraising Professionals.     RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE   Decisions may have program-wide impact, affect staff in non-program areas, and bind the organization financially or legally.  Design and lead collaborative, complex, and diversified projects, coordinating the work of other professionals, managing budget, and ensuring accountability. Direct or participate in negotiations for complex, high profile or sensitive agreements. Ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements; be alert to ethical compliance issues. Financial responsibility for setting and meeting fundraising objectives, evaluating results, and developing corrective strategies. Manage a portfolio of 60 - 75 donors, including donors with the capacity to give over $500,000, once the portfolio is developed. Responsible for 76 - 92 visits annually. Annual fundraising goal of $5,000,000 or more, along with a goal for bequest notifications. Responsible for closing 8-11 gifts of over $100,000 annually.  Work with donors on complex giving vehicles and assets.    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS   Bachelor’s degree and 8 years related experience.  Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with major donors. Experience in asking for and closing major or planned gifts of $100,000 or more.  Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors. Experience working with fundraising principles and practices.  Experience, coursework or other training in current and evolving trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving.  DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross cultural experience appreciated. Ability to design and direct fundraising initiatives, including individualized cultivation, solicitation and recognition strategies. Ability to determine an individual’s interests, capacity and potential for helping the Conservancy meet its goals, and act appropriately to tie those interests with the Conservancy’s work. Ability to educate and inform prospective and existing donors about appropriate giving vehicles. Demonstrated experience using listening, diplomacy, and tact to build strong relationships and motivate donors and volunteers. Expert knowledge of complex charitable gift planning. They understand and apply complex principles of developing donor strategies. They will be responsible for direct asks to both global and local priorities to meet funding needs. They can discuss assets and listen for opportunities for gifts of assets or other non-cash gifts, such as planned gifts and trade lands. The ADOD II provides opportunities for donors to receive recognition and increase future giving. Annual fundraising goal of $1,750,000 or more, along with a goal for bequest notifications.   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS   Bachelor’s degree and 6 years related experience or an equivalent combination. Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents. Experience in asking for and closing gifts of $50,000 or more. Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors. Experience working with cross-functional teams, preferably in a large non-profit. Experience working with fundraising principles and practices. Experience, coursework, or other training in current trends in charitable giving in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts or planned giving. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross cultural experience appreciated.
