Job Description:

Overview

The primary purpose of the Major Gifts Regional Director position is to demonstrate initiative in a professional fundraising environment as a member of the Donor Relations team with particular emphasis on qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors. Responsible for direct fundraising activities that provide philanthropic resources from major donors.

 

This regional position will manage a portfolio of Donors in Texas and Oklahoma and candidates who already live in those states are preferred. 

 

Essential Job Functions

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
  • Sets strategy designed to advance relationships between donors and Compassion International and documents results.
  • Represents Compassion's ministry of Christian child development to major donors and foundations. Maintains strong relationships with portfolio of 100 - 150 donors. Maintains strong relationships with major donor accounts through personal visits, phone calls, proposals, presentations and other correspondence.
  • Utilizes the moves management process, recommends and implements a cultivation goal, strategy and time table for each account and qualified prospect.
  • Works in conjunction with Major Gifts Director to establish financial forecast, and work to achieve mutually agreed upon financial goals.
  • Works in conjunction with Major Gifts Director to serve the needs of donors who are interested in making non-cash gifts or planned gifts to the ministry.
  • Includes donors as appropriate in vision trips, meetings and special events.
  • Reports in a timely and relevant manner to donors on use of funds through stewardship reports. Submits requested reports detailing donor contact.
  • Operates within the approved expense budget.
  • Maintains an in depth understanding of Compassion’s ministry and broader understanding of international development.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, strategic planning discussions and participates in regional and national meetings as required.
