Job Summary Statement:The Office of Academic Personnel (APO) reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Personnel. The Office of Academic Personnel administers faculty hiring, advancement and professional life quality for the entire campus. Provide independent, daily, high-level support to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Personnel, including: advice and interaction with academic administrators (deans, chairs, directors and vice chancellors), the Office of the President, and other UC campuses. APO coordinates the faculty peer review process, managing between over 1500 personnel actions annually. (UCLA has 62% more academic appointees than any other U.C. campus.) Responsible for academic personnel administration, problem resolution, policy development and working closely the Vice Chancellor's special faculty assistants on academic policy and practice. Responsible for a staff of 13 in the coordination of the academic review cycle, maintaining academic personnel data and records, designing workflow to support processing, and applying innovative technology.

Shift Start:8:00 am  
Shift End:5:00 pm

 QualificationsRequired/Preferred
 
1.Demonstrated working knowledge of human resource concepts and practices including performance evaluation, job description and position classification, compensation, training, progressive discipline, union relations, arbitration, claims and grievances.

2.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic planning processes, benchmarking, and organizational performance measures.

3.Demonstrated ability to identify and communicate short and long-range goals, motivating and supporting individual and group achievement.
Required
 
4.Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information and formulate logical and objective conclusions and action plans. Ability to articulate analysis, options and conclusions orally and in writing.

5.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, using appropriate vocabulary considering the audience, for the purposes of influencing, informing, eliciting, counseling, persuading, mediating and negotiating in groups and one-on-one.
