Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Through our national network of PurpleStride walk events, millions of dollars are raised that go directly to our mission of finding a cure and supporting those with the disease. The Event Manager, is responsible for spearheading the PurpleStride walk program in select markets to meet and exceed organizational revenue and participant goals. This is accomplished through strong leadership, training and support of volunteer efforts.

 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with cross functional teams to strategize and implement the overall fundraising and recruitment strategy as it relates to your designated PurpleStride events.
  • Engage and recruit volunteers to support the planning and execution of PurpleStride events and provide leadership in directing their roles in the event. This includes hosting trainings and offering resources to empower volunteers to be successful in their roles.
  • Establish timelines to execute all the elements of the PurpleStride and partner with local volunteer leaders to keep the event planning process on track.
  • Creatively engage with volunteer committees to make event-day a fun, well-organized program that people will enjoy. Event day program includes entertainment, activities, recognition, and overall providing an experience that will drive retention of participants.
  • Provide year-round stewardship of participants to foster growth in participant retention and peer to peer fundraising revenue.
  • Develop and deliver presentations as needed about the PurpleStride event, how pancreatic cancer impacts families and how participation in PurpleStride can be part of the solution.
  • Ability to work with and manage budgets including event tracking of participant recruitment and fundraising revenue.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following experiences, skills and qualities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years’ experience in event, fundraising and volunteer management.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of nonprofit program fundraising and management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A friendly, positive demeanor and ability to build strong relationships with volunteers and donors.
  • Proven ability to evaluate data, assess alternatives, and make decisions and or recommendations as required.
  • Must be team oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels, both internal and external.
  • Demonstrated ability in effective oral and written communications.
  • Experience with facilitating event training sessions a plus.
  • Ability to work within deadlines, multi task and manage time effectively.
  • Accounting skills in monitoring budgets and reconciling expenses.
  • Familiarity with the corporate business environment is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and database systems (Raiser’s Edge preferred).
  • Must be willing to travel and work at fundraising events (including weekends and evenings).
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs. as needed.
